Campaign Termination Announcement, November 12, 2025
At the beginning of this year, even before Trump was inaugurated, I was thinking about running for Congress. I had already known that my Congressional Representative, Steve Womack, would be a yes-man enabler for Trump. The Inauguration and the following days cemented the idea, and I filed my campaign with the Federal Elections Commission nine days later on January 29. I had previous election experience from four campaigns for myself in my previous state of Wisconsin, and I felt and believe that I had the qualifications and experience to compete in an election and do good service to the people of northwestern Arkansas.
This district has not elected a Democratic Congressional Representative since 1964, but I felt the midterm election in 2026 might be the change. I still think it will be a time for change.
What I had not expected was a fellow Democrat to join the race four months later.
I learned more about my competitor in the upcoming Democratic Primary next March 3 because I would need to distinguish myself against him and share that information with potential voters.
What I learned is that Robb Ryerse is a very qualified candidate. Although I also believe myself to be a qualified candidate, I do not see enough that distinguishes each of us. I do not view it as a good exercise to continue to compete against Mr. Ryerse. He should continue in the campaign, focusing on the general election next November rather than the competition between two allies.
Therefore, today I decided to withdraw from the campaign. I am no longer a candidate for Congress. I urge my supporters to learn about Robb Ryerse now.
I am very happy to have had the support and good wishes from many people within this district. We have good people here and we deserve good leadership in government.
